San Diego Audubon's 60th Anniversary Celebration

Anstine Activites
On their Global Volunteer Day, Invitrogen's annual volunteer event, employees worked the Anstine-Audubon Nature Preserve to remove invasive plants and plant almost 200 native plants. details
Audubon Speakers
Would you like to have a speaker at your next community meeting? We can provide seven illustrated presentatations given by our members. Topics include environmental issues, local area birding, and wildlife habitat establishment. details
Bird Festival
Planning has begun for our 2009 Festival on March 4 to 9. Our keynote speaker will be David Sibley. Many new events are being added. details

San Diego County Birding Sites
We have put SDAS and Bill McCausland's Birding San Diego County on line. This interactive map links to descriptions of 31 locations of interest to local and visiting birders. There are links to interactive maps that can provide detailed driving directions. details
Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary
Our Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary has celebrated its 40th anniversary. It was created in January, 1966, when Harry Woodward’s donation of 85 acres along Wildcat Canyon Road for a nature preserve was recorded by the County. Since then, the nature sanctuary has expanded to take in a total of 723 acres today.
Approximately 30 species of mammals, 25 reptiles, and 160 bird species have been recorded within the sanctuary.
Silverwood is open for guided tours on Sundays and by appointment. details
